The details of how I became a patent lawyer after first being a patent agent. To sit for the patent bar and become a patent lawyer or patent agent, you need to have a technical background and I my undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology qualified me to sit for the patent bar when I was in my first semester of law school. After passing the patent bar, I started my own practice as a patent agent and then joined with a friend in law school and started a patent agent firm. After law school, I merged my practice with a boutique law firm in Seattle, then with a boutique law firm in Bellevue, Washington.
