Hello and welcome to personal injury today, where we discuss the hottest topics that attorneys need to know to understand their clients' cases and to come to a fair settlement. Today we're diving into understanding the importance of demand letters and how the demand letters have changed over time. Stay tuned as we dive in with Dr. Brad Poppie, who will bring some clarity to this very confusing topic. So let's dive right in. Dr. Brad Poppie is the founder of Injury Reporting Consultants, helping attorneys resolve personal injury cases through evidence-based medical analysis and research. Welcome, Dr. Poppie. Thank you so much. So as we talk about demand letters, we want to understand the shift and change over the last 20 years. You've been doing this for 20 years. So what have you seen that has changed in demand letters? And what does our audience of attorneys need to know?

Demand letters have vastly changed over the last couple of decades. Years ago, demand letters you know, really needed to portray to the insurance company causation of the accident. You know who? Who caused it? Well, you know, clear liability. Who is at fault? Other topics would include the treatment the patient had diagnostic tests, also statements from the patient on what they can or can't do to pain and suffering things like that. And while those are still valuable today, the insurance companies have gotten keen and really saying, OK, we understand all this. Prove it. And so if the, you know, insurance company excuse me, if the if the attorney can't prove that. What does it do? It just prolongs the process. And the insurance company says, fine, let's go to trial. Well, as we all know, trial is a long. It's a marathon. It takes time and a lot of money to get to the finish line. Ok? It's very, very expensive. So if attorneys can understand the right components today to put into demand letters, it will certainly expedite things, hopefully get the case settled in mediation and move on with life.
